My post Health Over Money is featured today on BlogHer! I am flattered that BlogHer would pick my article to feature and I think that the conversation about the personal effects of health care costs is a very timely conversation to have, both for me personally and in the wake of the Affordable Care Act.

I wrote another article on Dealing With Medical Bills (Without Freaking Out) this week.

We are still wading through these medical bills and struggling to figure out how to pay them, but the scariest thing isn’t the bills, it’s my husband’s health.

We are trying to figure out what to do about his chronic migraines which get in the way of much of life’s activities, as well as other issues. I think sometimes that I am willing to incur any amount of debt if it would make him feel better but then I get gripped with fear that we would then be saddled with payments. So he could eventually be healthy enough to work to pay off the medical bills we accrued when he wasn’t healthy enough to work. And then we are still back at square one.

It feels like it is a never ending cycle and I can see how medical bills are one of the top reasons for people to be thrust into debt, bankruptcy, and the poorhouse.

I would appreciate your feedback on how you deal with medical bills and the personal toll that health care, both sickness and money, has had on you. I know I am not alone in this struggle and I would love to hear your experiences.
